This was our first full fortnight abroad on the bike (our first Thunderace). It took us through the edge of the French and Italian alps down to the French Riviera, thence across to the Cevennes to spend a few days with Colin's cousin and her family.

Our second bike holiday took us south from Amsterdam to St Sebastian, then through the Pyrenees to Carcassone and finally through the Auvergne and Ardennes back to Amsterdam.

We liked the look of the eastern end of the Pyrenees so much that we decided to go back and spend a little more time there. We took a few days biking down, spent a week in a little rented townhouse in Laroque des Alberes, then a few more days biking back.

This year saw our longest biking holiday yet - to Slovenia and Lake Bled (absolutely beautiful). The journey out took in the Swiss Alps (Bernese Oberland) and the Italian Dolomites, and the trip back took us through the Austrian Tirol and Trier in Germany.

For 2007 we decided on a slightly different sort of a holiday - less travel and more local exploring, by car. We rented an apartment in the middle of Dinan for a week, and stayed in Honfleur for a couple of nights on the way there and in Giverny (for Monet's garden) for a couple of nights on the way back. These are some of the photographs we took.

Pat had enjoyed a holiday spent as a teenager in Ruhpolding, and Colin fancied biking the Alpenstrasse, so for 2008 Bavaria it was - out via Baden Baden and the Black Forest and back along the Romantische Strasse to Rothenburg and Koblenz.

Some friends were planning a week's biking in the Tirol, so we decided to join them, adding a few days either side, starting off in the Italian Tirol and Dolomites, and heading home via the Black Forest and Heidelberg.

2010 saw our longest holiday yet - the whole of September spent touring western Alberta and BC in an RV. We started and finished in Calgary, fitting in the Icefields Parkway, Vancouver, Vancouver Island, the Inside Passage and the Cariboo.

In 2011 we decided to return to the Pyrenees, in the hope of catching some clearer skies and better views. We were not disappointed. To give us more time there we took the bike on the Portsmouth-Bilbao ferry.

We usually go skiing a couple of weeks a year, amd sometimes take shorter breaks away from home in the UK. These include
A few days in Tenby (photograhs only).
