UKRM
UKRM stands for uk.rec.motorcycles.
It is a newsgroup, part
of Usenet.
It can be somewhat anarchic at times (bikers being somewhat independent
souls) but it is rarely dull. It has the unusual distinction of
disregarding the notion of "on topic", although some posters prefer to
head threads unconnected with biking as "OT". The ethos is that it
functions as a club, where bikers (including those with an interest in
bikes) gather to chat, but where the conversation as often as not has
nothing to do with bikes.
The newsgroup has a FAQ
- worth reading before posting.
Many of the regulars have met in real life. There are a number of runs
and meets in different parts of the country. Have a browse or a google
to find out more. Because many of us have known each other for some
years the group can feel a bit "cliquey" at times. It isn't - everyone
is well aware that it is a public forum, and newcomers are welcome.
We've accumulated a few photographs over the years - the link title
gives the venue.
